Day-O-Play

I know it's kind of early to already have a guest blogger but have I
ever done anything on schedule. This entry is a collaboration. Kelly and Ife. Blogging together.

Back when Ife lived in Dallas we had this thing called Day-o-Play.
We'd shop, go see movies, get manicures & pedicures, we'd always have
great conversations about friends, boys & life. Today was no
different. We ate breakfast, went to Target, hit up Central Market,
and spent the afternoon with our favorite tv girlfriends. You know,
Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, & Samantha. Throughout the day, our
thoughts & conversations kept returning to the one non-holiday that
clearly separates the world: the ones that have love and the ones that
don't.
Single Awareness Day (S.A.D.) or for those of you who have love,
Valentines Day. We ate chocolate and conversation hearts, read cards at target,
and looked at the horrible iced cookies, saw flowers all over the place. And it didn't occur to us
that the negativity that we have about S.A.D. has nothing to do with
Valentines Day. Until Carrie said: "I am looking for love. Real love.
Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't live without each other,
love." And that's what S.A.D. represents. It reminds us that we don't
have it. It makes us wonder when we're going to have it. And for half
a second it gives us time to worry that we may never have it. The
thing about S.A.D. this year and S.A.D.'s of the past, is that we're
surrounded with those who show us how great it is to love and to be
loved. We've come to realize that those that didn't work out were not the proverbial "one." And we know when we "find someone to love, the you
that you love, well that's just fabulous!"

  1. To my strong & independent ladies: I love you both overwhelmingly for being exactly who you are everyday. And when you "find someone to love, the you that you love," I know they will feel exactly the same way. And you're both worth the wait.
