Who knows what could happen. Do what you do, just keep on laughing, One thing's true, there's always a brand new day...

Happy New Year! Yay for 2010! I hope everyone is off to a good start this year. I went to my first church service of the new year and stayed awake through the whole sermon. I am very proud of myself. I am not going to make out loud resolutions, but i have some life changes i want to implement.

I had a chill stay in night a few weeks ago. I couldn't find anything to watch so like an idiot i turn on the hills. What is wrong with these people?? Less than 10 minutes in to these and I was shocked by the things I saw. Please let this not be reality. Please let these people be acting cause this is crazy. Spencer saw a doctor about a vasectomy so Heidi is going to surprise him with a pregnancy. Are you kidding me??? In your rush to get married didn't ask him if he wanted to have kids? REALLY??? What is wrong with these people???? What about the poor kid you are going to bring in to the world to a father who doesn't want him? But REALLY????

Actually broke down and purchased the Victoria Secret Perfect bra. Its not perfect. It is actually pretty badly made and I already returned it. I think that it could be described as an epic fail. But the customer service I got at the Victoria Secret at the Domain in Austin was amazing. Speaking of epic fails, While at the Domain i saw this store called ruehl. Some brain trust at Abercombie and Fitch thought, "why don't we design a store that looks like a house, that is very badly lit, and has A&F clothes, BUT everything is 30% more expensive." Cause those sweatshirts were not expensive enough, lets mark them up even more. Apparently I am not the only one who feels that way, they are currently closing down all the Ruehl stores. Boo on A&F.

I think I know what I want to do, now i just need a government hook up to get me the job cause i am not actually qualified. I want to work for the FDIC. The FDIC are like banking Ninjas. It is the most gangsta job in banking. They go in to a bank on a Friday evening and are like, "This is a bank takeover," and they shut the bank down. Sometimes they have already sold the bank to another bank before they even go in. Can banking get more thug life? So if anyone knows anyone, who knows someone, who is related to someone, who works for FDIC, they need to know me.

I spent Christmas at my parents house. As much as i love being with them, each visit makes it more apparent that my apartment is my home. Being there is fun but the smoke alarms beeps constantly, they give me crap when i fall asleep on the couch and it is never warm enough there. Ademide came home for Christmas too. We had a conversation about our parent's favorite child. I think Ademide is the favorite. She thinks they like me better but agrees that they spend more money on her. If being the least favorite gets you more stuff, I want to be the daughter they don't like.

After Christmas I came back to Ft. Worth for a day then headed to Austin for New Years Eve. Austin was a lot of fun, I got to spend time with My Tina and My Val and they both got to meet BariBooBoo. Tina's first words to him were "you do exist?" Thanks Tuna. I love Tina and Jose's house. Being there makes me want to look in to my home owner plans again. Tina took me on a run that is still hurting me. My favorite moment of the run/walk was where I offered to run at a Tina pace and she informed me that she runs an eight minute mile. Well excuse me. I bet she can't keep up with the Kenyans though. :)

Val and I spent way too much time at VIP Nails and Spa. I have never felt less like a VIP than I did the almost 3 hours that Val, Ali V and I spent soaking our feet in cold water at VIP. When we were done the lady offered us coupons to come back. right... Sadly my toes don't look that good. But I got to see Val's amazing legs. They look awesome. You can tell that Holland is her happy place.

I usually only crave sweet things but right now I want salt and vinegar pop chips. More than Peach Os. Who am I? In peach o news, On my way back to Ft. Worth i discovered the most amazing gas station EVER. Its called BucCees. The one i went to was off 45 in Madisonville, but apparently they are a chain. For a moment it felt like I had died and gone to candy junkie heaven. They had a fudge bar, melon Os, the longest candy isle i have ever seen. I actually had to remind myself to keep breathing. It was AMAZING.

I am done now. Might go to the store and get some pop chips. But I am thinking no. Its kinda cold outside.

it was a creed written in to founding documents, that declared the destiny of a nation

I recently watched "We the People," it is a HBO documentary about the campaign of Barack Obama. I felt all emotional and weepy again. Made me want to start yelling yes we can! Yes We Can!, then i remembered we did and I am not seeing any change. I know it hasn't even been a year, but still, give me something. Come on Hopey McChange!

I celebrated the 5 anniversary of my 21st birthday last month. I have always heard that the older you get the more your metabolism slows down and you gain weight. I think I am experiencing that. It doesn't help that I am dating "six pack" who eats anything and still has a washboard stomach. Blah. Anyways I weighed myself every day and it seemed to just keep going up and up, even when I worked out. Finally this week I couldn't take it anymore, so I smashed the scale. Not going to lie, taking a hammer to the scale felt amazing. I think it was defective, there is no way I weighed that much. I bet that is what the women who burned bras felt. Liberated. Except they couldn't jump and dance in celebration, like I did, because they had no supportive under wire.

The conviction of Amanda Knox disturbs me more than I know how to explain. I have been trying to get over it, but I can't. I think travel and things like study abroad is one of the most enriching things a person can do. The chance to see how others live and live amongst them. How amazing. So the fact that for this girl it went from the highest of highs to spending 55 years in prison just kills me. I really don't think she did it. I think her conviction had something to do with the way Americans are viewed by the the rest of world. But how unfair, that she will never graduate college, get married, have babies, that she will live the most important years of her life in an Italian prison.

I took a practice GMAT last week. The lowest score you can get on the GMAT is 200, I didn't get a 200 don't worry. Don't think I did well enough to get in to Harvard. But I have been told that my score was a good starting place. I actually want to study now because I feel like I can do well on the test. I am going to try taking it for real in February. Wish me luck!

On this weeks episode of 30 Rock Jack Donaghy said "gift giving is the purest expression of friendship. I’m going to think about what I know and like about you and that will lead me to the perfect gift. And you do the same." As sweet and true as that is gift giving like that is hard. In my family you just say what you want and most of the time you get that. It works and everyone is happy. BF is of the Jack Donaghy school of gifting. For his birthday I racked my brain and debated and got opinions but at the end of the day i am still worried he won't like what I got. That is the problem with the touchy feely way of gift giving. It might go wrong.

Ok, i am done. Happy weekend friends!

can I get a what, what........

I went to Houston this weekend to see Abraham and Bukola, it gave me 8 hours of alone time so I have so new blog thoughts for y'all.

I have been cooking more lately. Not to brag but the words that come to mind are along the lines of, culinary genius, domestic goddess, pretty much a cooking bad ass. I think you get the picture. It is super fun and to be honest, I like my food better than restaurant food. If anyone wants to come over, I will cook for you.... It will be good i promise!

Every time i get in my car 'Party in the U.S.A.' by Miley Cyrus is on. I liked it at first but she is getting old. Fast. In the song she says "The taxi man turned on the radio, And the Jay-Z song was on, So I put my hands up, they’re playin’ my song" I just can't believe that Miley Cyrus has a Jayz song she likes. Can we really see Miley Cyrus doing the Roc Nation Sign?? Umm NO!!!!

John's birthday party had a James Bond theme. You can't tell but I was going for Bond girl. Isn't John's bow tie cute?

Anyway It made think about guns and the fact that I have never shot a gun. I kinda want to. All this time in Texas and I don't think I have ever touched a real gun. Who has a gun for me? I promise i will be careful. And I bet I would look hot. Imagine that picture with a gun in my hand.

Nene on Real Housewives used to be my favorite Atlanta housewife.. This season she is terrible, Last week she has the crying scene that was not reality and not acting. It was just bad. And she says "I have been knowning you," instead of "I have known you." Why take the time to use those extra words. Apparently Nene and Kim got in a major fight. I bet the producers were pissed that there were no cameras around. Real drama and no footage for tv someone is getting fired.

Facebook has this new feature where they suggest people for you reconnect with. I would like to thank facebook for suggesting people for me to delete. Most times it shows me people I forgot I was friends with, or people I only met once. Y'all might want to go check if we are still facebook friends.

I am done now. Going to eat, sadly its not food I cooked.

blah

Blah is the word of the day.

Blah is how i feel about my hair.

Blah is how i feel about the pimple growing on my right cheek.

Blah is how i feel about the almost 2 hour conference call i just got done with.

Blah is how i feel about my checking account goal for tomorrow. who in the world doesn't have a checking account and where can i find them?

Blah is how i feel about the fact that I have been at this branch for all of 2009.

Blah is how I feel about all the music in my car. If i have to hear "Party in the USA" one more time Miley Cyrus is getting cut.

Blah is how i feel about blogging. Blah, nothing to say.

Meh is how i feel about my outfit for John's Birthday party.

Blah/Meh is how i feel about my own birthday. Lets just not celebrate, Mmkay?

Blah is how i feel about the last 36 minutes of work today.

i can't stand the rain, against my window....

This is my only September post. sue me.

I have been really busy with work, getting lots of sleep, eating excessive amounts of sugar, half ass working out, seeing bad movies, practicing my salsa and hanging out with my boyfriend. umm, yeah, boyfriend. Its kinda sad that getting a boyfriend warrants a blog announcement but i think his feelings would be hurt if i didn't acknowledge it here.

I have always had a lot of guy friends and there have been boyfriends in the past, but this relationship is already changing me. I now know more about college and professional football than i ever imagined i would. I actually spent Saturday at work on espn.com keeping up with the University of Texas game. I celebrated the Detroit Lions first win in 19 games yesterday, I keep up with NCAA rankings on a weekly basis, and I am really worried about Sam Bradford. Who am i?

I saw the movie the informant last week. My personal rating is well, it sucked. Very bad. Matt Damon shared his every thought for 108 minutes. Umm no. I think the people at rottentomatoes.com are on some crazy stuff. How did that movie get better rating than the time travellers wife?

Starbucks has been tricking me lately. I ran out of coffee and so i went to starbucks one morning for my fix. No big deal right. Except starbucks has a special brand of trickery. See if you go in the morning they give you a receipt to come back after 2 and get another drink for $2. well if you are Ife, and stupid, you justify going in the morning and paying $5 for coffee cause you get the same drink after 2 for $2. That's crap. That's $7 a day, and $35 a week. And if they can give it to me for $2 in the afternoon, why do i have to pay $5 in the morning. I am buying coffee for my coffee maker tomorrow. But after work so i am going to starbucks tomorrow morning and afternoon.

Yay for the fall and all my shows coming back. Summer t.v. was severely lacking. The only show i discovered over the summer is the tool academy. It is the brain trust of the the same people that brought us I Love new York, Flava of Love and we can't forget Megan wants a Millionaire. Yay VH1! Tool Academy is a relationship school for these 12 guys whose girlfriends are fed up. So they take them to this school and they are supposed to change them. Why do girls think they can change men. If this dude was cheating on you in the last 3 years of your relationship, why would he change now? But It is entertaining t.v.

Today I opened a business account for a woman opening an Animal Hospice. Yep, a safe place to take your pet when the end is near. I have had 2 pets in my life. First up, Lucky the dog. My mom got Lucky when she was pregnant with me. While Bukola was in the hospital Abraham celebrated the birth of his baby girl a little too hard and forgot to feed Lucky. Lucky died before we had the chance to meet. Next Pumba. Pumba was my fish in college. He lived a great life, till Jena's evil cat killed him. Her. It. How do you know if its a girl or boy fish? Perhaps because of all of that i find it hard to comprehend paying my customer $25 a day to put your dog/cat in hospice care. But I hope it works out for her.

I have never really known what i wanted to do when i grew up. Different professions sound fun and interesting but i have never had a true calling. I knew I had to do something, so i got a business degree and got a job and just put off figuring it out for later. But the scary thing is later is here and I feel like the more time i spend doing a job that is not it, the further i am from finding what i should be doing. Any ideas on how a person finds the thing that is their contribution to world?

In bad/good news Kelly and I both hurt our ankles and have agreed that now is not a good time to half marathon train. I want to be disappointed but I am not. I want to run it but i don't want to train. Blah. Maybe next year.

Today's song is some old school Missy Elliot, I started this when we had like a week of bad weather here and that song was in my head.

And now i am going to watch the end of the Cowboys game. I hope they win!

Say yes or say no, Cause I really need somebody, Tell me are you that somebody?

Today's lyrics are from Aaliyah's Are you that somebody? The 25th was the 8th anniversary of her death. I wonder how relevant she would have been had she lived. I was thinking this week about how difficult it must be to be an artist. At most jobs you are compared to others but as an artist you are not only compared to others like you but also to your own previous work.

I have a new term I am trying to make happen. No Lesbo. Its like the girl No Homo. "Shelby you look hot in those pants, No lesbo" or Ademide, your boobs look really good in that shirt, no incesto-lesbo. I am cracking myself up here so all of you better be laughing hysterically. Now!

I decided when i moved in to my new place that it was time to get Internet and buy a computer. I wasn't ready to commit to actually purchasing a computer the day i moved in so non-boyfriend (that's what i am calling him now) let me borrow his old one till i was ready. It has been a month and a half and i still don't feel ready but i am sure i will any day. The thing is i am kinda bored of the Internet. I mean how much facebooking can a girl do? What else is there to do? I have taken to blog stalking. I have friends that i haven't spoken to in weeks, but i can track their pregnancies (Lauri and Laura I read every post) by blogspot. Very weird. This is some girl i don't know but she makes me laugh. Mrs.MaryMack

I just typed a whole lot of stuff that got lost. Makes me mad. I mean its 2009, shouldn't we have figured out a way to make that not happen. If anyone says save it, i will shank the mess out of you. Twice.

I have agreed to run a half marathon with Kelly later this year. Actually I volunteered. We are going to start training mid September. I don't want to flake, I have no intentions of flaking. I am really worried about this cause i have a history of quitting exercise endeavors. In an effort to not flake I am trying to remove any obstacles to running from my life. I am starting to make running playlists early. I am going to buy the nike plus shoes and chip thing so i can track my progress. I can run either before or after work. I don't need any additional equipment. I am going to try really, really hard not to quit. The only thing that may get in my way is my hair. It is no fun running with my weave in and sweating negates any effects of chemically straightening hair. Maybe I will cut it all off like freshman year of college.

Concert update. I am going to the Maxwell concert in October. Common and Christte Michelle should be performing with him but i am trying not to get my hopes up so i don't get Keri Hilsoned. That mess was just not right. And if Common didn't show, i think my faith in men would be destroyed.

I had the best talk with Tope yesterday. I have been friends with Tope as long as i have memories and it is one of those perfect friendships where we don't have to talk often but when we do its like we just talked yesterday. Our conversation made me want to drop everything and go to London.

Ok. I am over writing for now. I don't really feel like doing it anymore. It may be a while before I blog again. I feel like its boring. If its boring for me to write it has to be very boring for y'all to read.

She said cut something, She looked at me, I looked at her, I like my woman kind of bold, She was oh, oh, oh....

I spent the last week with Abraham. He has this bad habit of talking on the phone while driving and missing the way. We drove 10 miles the wrong way last Tuesday because he was on the phone and missed our exit. Every time he does that he apologizes and truly means it, until he does it again. That being said I am not going to apologize for my long absences in the blogosphere. Why say sorry when the odds are I will do it again. I will write when I want to and have stuff to say.

Last week was family vacation. I love family vacation. It is good to know that somethings never change and my family is definitely one of those things. We spent a week harassing Ademide about being a republican, reading, driving and disagreeing about the proper use of money. Sounds pretty normal.

One of the places we visited on family vacation was Ft. Sumter. It is the site of the first battle of the American Civil War. Useless information gleaned on family vacation coming up in 3....2....1.... the first casualty of the civil war was mortally wounded during the 47th shot of a 100 shot salute after the Union surrendered. Do you think they told his family he died heroically in battle.

Getting home and going back to work sucked big, hairy, smelly elephant balls. Sorry but that is the only way to describe it. I thought maybe I would come back and feel differently but not so much. There is this dirty old customer who has been hitting on me at work and I am thinking about going for it. I know he makes enough to let me just stay at home and sleep. But i think i would be required to do the deed with him. Sick nasty.

Non boyfriend/friend/blah-hiss/friend is good i guess. But he uses yahoo email. I can't understand anyone who knows about gmail and doesn't use it. I am determining if this a deal breaker. It could be worse, it could be hotmail.

I gave up candy for 12 days. It was soo hard. I think i was not my usually sunny self. I tried to substitute cookies, donuts and ice cream. But I missed my primary source of sugar, Peach Os. I have decided to embrace my love of sugar. The world tries to make me feel guilty and bad about it.

My name is Ife, and I am a sugar addict. I don't want to go to meetings or find a support group. If I could i would eat jelly filled donuts for breakfast, a bag of peach os for my mid morning snack, oatmeal raisin cookies for lunch, a bag of lifesaver gummy bugs for mid afternoon snack, and chipotle for dinner. There, I said it, I feel better already.

Last week I read some great books. I read the time travellers wife, so good. I didn't think I would like it. One thousand splendid suns, heartbreaking and very informative. If you haven't read it you should. Tomorrow. Actually go get it now. I love how read and read are the same. greatness.

Today's title is from the song Cut Something by Jagged Edge. Oldie but goodie.

I feel like this is enough of an update for now and i want to go to bed early tonight so i can go run before work tomorrow. bye.
